Probationer's role
As a probationer you are expected to develop the qualities and capabilities detailed in the Standard for Full Registration.
Your responsibilities include:
- checking that your Timetable meets the stipulated requirements
- being open, enthusiastic and receptive to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- using your Initial professional development action plan (IPDAP), Professional Development Action Plan (PDAP), Supporter Meetings and Observed Teaching Sessions to support your learning and development
- where possible, seeking advice and guidance from your supporter and other colleagues
- where appropriate, becoming familiar with the school’s policies and improvement plan
- reviewing and reflecting on teaching and learning and adjust plans and expectations in the light of your pupils’ achievements
- self-evaluating and monitoring your professional learning and development with your supporter and other staff
- maintaining a CPD Record with professional development targets and future actions
- maintaining a succinct, well organised CPD portfolio
- identifying and recording appropriate critical incidents and evidence to use as a focus of discussion with your supporter
