Initial Professional Development Action Plan (IPDAP)
The Initial Professional Development Action Plan (IPDAP) section should be completed by you in collaboration with your supporter and should be used to identify the initial focus for professional development covering the August–December period. During discussions about your IPDAP, you should use the profile that your Institute of Teacher Education (ITE) completed at the end of your course. These have various names:
If your career entry profile is not available there will need to be more detailed and reflective discussions to identify your development needs.
Take this profile along to the first of your Supporter Meetings and discuss your strengths and areas for development.
How do I identify my development needs?
Identify your development needs by:
- analysing the different approaches to learning and teaching appropriate to the pupils and the community to which they belong
- specifying or defining what aspect(s) of learning and teaching are going to be addressed and what it is hoped is achieved
- planning what the starting point is and how this approach will be implemented and monitored
- evaluating your learning, record and identify next steps
Your targets and actions should be realistic and stated in a clear and focused manner.
